Vinnie Gertrude Adkison's Obituary
Mrs. Vinnie Gertrude Adkison, of Ocklawaha, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Rossville, Georgia. Gertrude moved to Florida in 1941. The wife of a minister, they moved around often. She settled in Tavares in 1965. Gertrude was the Assistant Manager of the F.W. Woolworth store in Leesburg for 13 years until her retirement. She was very involved in her church as a member of the Church of God of the Prophecy in Tavares. She is remembered and will be dearly missed by her sons, Vennie L. Carroll and his wife, Darthy of Ocklawaha, Hoyette Adkison of Astor, FL and Alton Adkison and his wife, Elizabeth of Umatilla, FL; daughters, Nettie Ruth Kicklighter of Grand Island, FL and Myra Marr and her husband, Alan of Tavares; as well as 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by two husbands, Lee C. Carroll, Jr in 1970 and James Ervin Adkison in 1997; two sons, Howard Lee Carroll in 1979 and James Clifford Carroll in 1994; as well as her 4 sisters. Friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 1 from 10:00 am – 10:45 am in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, FL. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
