In the winter of 1991, we were part of the team in France putting the final touches on the Amadeus reservation system. Sometimes I'd see Tom leaving the Amadeus building at the end of a long week, or at the Open apartment building Friday evening. I'd ask him if he had plans for the weekend. Often he'd answer, "Sleep!"
One of the nicest and smartest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Tom would drop whatever he was doing if you asked for help. He also had an amazing knack for having the winning ticket at our Friday after work Happy Hour functions. Ground control to Major Tom.
There are so many things I will miss about Tom - his big heart, love of scifi, ability to keep going in spite of his medical issues but what I will miss the most is his knowledge about so many things and his willingness to share that knowledge. Tom was my go-to guy for computer issues, mechanical issues and so much more.
There is a black hole in the universe now that can never be filled. Rest in peace my friend.
