Thomas D. Heneghan's Obituary
Tom Heneghan passed away surrounded by his family at home in Tavares, Florida on the evening of October 26th.
In 1936, Thomas Daily Heneghan was born in Chicago to his father, Thomas, an Irish immigrant, and his mother, Marguerite (nee Hagge).
In 1946, when Tom was 9 years, his father died unexpectedly of Leukemia. His mother moved from Chicago back to her small home town of Marcellus, Michigan with Tom, his younger brother, John (age 6), and sister, Elizabeth (age 4).
In 1956, Tom graduated from Marcellus High School, having played two years on the varsity football team. After graduation, Tom began working in a factory, and later joined the carpenter's union to work as a journeyman carpenter.
In 1962, Tom enlisted in United States Marine Corps and trained at Paris Island, SC. Tom served in the USMC Reserve for 6 years.
Tom married Gail Lorraine Wells in 1965.
After graduating with honors from Western Michigan University, he began a career in Human Resources at Cummins Engine. They lived in Columbus, Indiana, Fostoria, Ohio, and Cookeville, Tennessee. In 1984, Tom joined Hill-Rom in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed his HR career as Vice President in Batesville, Indiana.
After retiring in 1999, Tom and Gail found their home on Lake Dora where they could enjoy boating, bicycling and watching Notre Dame football. Tom and Gail traveled throughout the US and Canada, visiting new places and hiking in national parks. Also, Tom discovered lawn bowling, and he and Gail treasured their friends at the Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club. Tom and Gail raised two sons, Tom and Shaun, and have two grandchildren, Connor, and Maille. Tom and Gail are members of Saint Philip Lutheran Church of Mount Dora.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Nov 16th at 1:00pm EST at Saint Philip Lutheran Church 1050 Boyd Dr, Mt Dora, FL 32757.
A reception will follow the memorial service.
