Susan Green Jaillet, born on July 4, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS. Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Susan's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her.
Daughter of the late Samuel S. Green, Sr. and Marjorie Pryor Green, Susan was a cherished sister to Sam Green and his wife Ellen, and a beloved aunt to Robin and Adam Mathias. Her life partner, Doug Parker, and numerous family members and friends will deeply miss her loving presence.
Susan's passion for education was evident throughout her life. A proud graduate of Mattoon High School and Eastern Illinois University, she dedicated her career to teaching at Lake Land College, Eustis High School, and Lake Technical College. Her leadership in the DAWN program and her role as Teacher of the Year highlighted her commitment to empowering others.
Beyond education, Susan was a gifted writer and artist. She shared her literary talents through her involvement with Writers One Flight Up and her contributions to Pulse Magazine. Her creativity extended to painting and crafting, leaving her family and friends with treasured handmade gifts.
Active in organizations such as BPW and the ADK teaching sorority, Susan's kindness and support for others left an indelible mark. Her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication continues to inspire all who knew her. Susan will be remembered for her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. May her memory be a guiding light for all who loved her.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at the home of Sam and Ellen Green, located at 3206 Lake Joanna Drive, Eustis, FL 32726. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the W.T. Bland Library or the ALS Foundation, organizations that held special significance in Susan's heart.
