It has been a long two years watching Susie being taken slowly away from us. First she was unsteady. Then occasionally falling. Then a walker. Then a wheel chair. Then confined to a wheel chair, recliner, or bed. Finally she was diagnosed with ALS. Then it became harder and harder to understand her. Finally we could not understand her at all. Through it all she never complained and kept a positive attitude. She was lucky to have some great caregivers.
Susie was a wonderful sister and I loved her dearly. We had a great childhood and watched out for each other. Later I moved to Florida and we did not see each other enough. Then she moved to Florida. We had mutual friends, went on many vacations together and had a great time. She introduced me to my wife, Ellen. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.
She had a long successful career in education and was a talented writer and artist. She has many many friends and relatives who are grieving over her passing. I personally have many wonderful memories of our life together and will always be able to see her in my mind.
I love you Sis.
Rest in peace Susie.
