Susan will be missed by all. She was the principal at Treadway while all three of my children were there. I had the pleasure to have done many fundraisers with her, back in the day and we had a great time together. I was very sadden to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Susan's family.I met Susan in 1973 when I came from college to teach at Umatilla Elementary under James Gibson.Susan let me live with her for about 3 weeks until my apartment in same complex was completed.We became good friends...She was so easy to talk to and never met a stranger...And I loved her laugh..it was contagious and what kept us all going.and the kids adored her.I lost contact with her when I moved 3 years later..but followed her progress in the papers...Two years ago I sat down with her in her office as Principal UES. It was as if time had stood still..Susan was still the same..we talked about her family,and many camping adventures..walked around campus with kids waving and shouting her name..many coming up for a hug!! I was a first year teacher at Tavares Elementary. All I ever wanted to be was a teacher but I was struggling and thinking of another career. Susan stepped in and made it so I could survive. I asked her what I could do, and she gently told me that someday I would be in the position to help a struggling teacher and to remember this time. I have been teaching 23 years. Whenever I saw Susan at county school functions, she would recognize me and greet me with my name making me feel important. Thank you Susan, for your care. God Rest.
