Stanton Stewart Jr.'s Obituary
Stanton Stewart, Jr., age 79, of Leesburg passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He was born February 15, 1940 in North Middletown, KY and moved to Florida in 1998 from North Carolina. Stanton was a Master Chief in the U.S. Coast Guard, having served in the Vietnam War and also worked for Virginia Power for many years. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of AMVETS 1992, Mason Lodge 219 Scarborough, ME, Moose Lodge 874, Eagles 565, American Legion Post 0288, and DAV Post 87. Stanton enjoyed fishing with many of his friends and for several years they would have a community fish fry. Friends would say that “what was talked about on the lake stayed on the lake”. Stanton was also a lover of karaoke and would be found singing at the local clubs in Florida and Maine. Stanton was a very handy person. He could problem solve almost anything. He would help out anyone who was having a problem. Stanton was everybody’s best friend and also loved to have dogs to spoil. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Stewart of Leesburg, FL; daughter, Ellen Grandy of NC; step-daughter, Esther Cheney of ME; step-son, Frederick Cheney, II of Leesburg, FL; sisters, Evelyn Sutphin of VA, Charlesetta Ruark Centers of KY, Freda Ruark Sutton of KY, Patricia Stewart Austin of VA, Jane Marie Stewart of OH, Eleaner Stewart Russell of FL, J Sue Stewart Bryant of IN; grandchildren, Tyler Grandy and Frederick Cheney, III. He was preceded in death by first wife, Gerrie Ellen Stewart and son, David Lee Stewart. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, January 17th at 2:30PM at 34212 Silver Court Drive, Leesburg, FL 34788. Family and friends are welcome to gather with remembrance and refreshments.
