Stanton and I grew up together and shared a wonderful childhood. He was my big brother. He taught me how to play touch football, how to fish and go frogging, how to ride a bike and how to make a cherry popper. He also had the final say about any of my boyfriends. If he didn't approve I wasn't allowed to date them. At the time it made me angry but looking back he was always right. The two of us grew up at the beach and spent many hours swimming in the bay or ocean, driving on the sand, roasting hot dogs and just having fun long into the night on the beach. Of course we spent our Sunday mornings at church. The two of us were probably a nightmare for our mother. We tested her every way possible. She was stronger than both of us and we always learned a lesson in the end. When he left home to join the Coast Guard I was devastated. Eventually I left home and went to DC. Even then he told my parents I shouldn't be going to parties, etc. Still looking out for little sister. He was a part of my wedding when I married. Our Christmases at our parents home was always a big deal. So much fun with his family and his sense of humor. We shared the deaths of our parents, his son David and his wife Gerrie. I will miss our phone calls and especially when he left a message in his drawn out southern accent "Hi Sis, it's your brother". I will forever miss him and love him. We will meet again later.

Stan and I became friends around 1979 .Our friendship started because we were both big fans of racing .When he had his Coast Guard retirement I was the only civilian beside his family to attend. It was a great honor for me .
Around about 1985 Stan knew my old van was in need of a lot of work .He took the van and rebuilt the motor and put it in great shape . He would not accept any pay for it .
Over the years Stan met many of my friends and we went to many races ,all of my friend thought the world of him .
I will miss his friendship and will always have our many adventures in my mind .
I loved him like a brother and will never forget him .
My sincere condolences to his family .

Stanton was a kind gentle man. I will never forget the first time I met him. I mistook him for a stranger. I basically told him to move along! When Cheryl told me, he was with her, I was mortified! He loved reminding me about “ Our first meet”. Heaven gained another Angel. We are very sorry for your loss, Cheryl. Love, Charles and Debbie
Stanton was a wonderful person, very caring and lots of fun to be with. He will be missed very much. He was very handy with his hands, and solved many issues. We will miss him. Love Sue, Dick and Family
