Samuel Dennis Cosgrove's Obituary
Samuel Dennis Cosgrove, age 78, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was born December 3, 1937 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in Weehawken, NJ and attended Holy Family High School in Union City, NJ. He moved to Leesburg in 1993 from Windham, ME. He was a retired Weehawken, New Jersey professional firefighter after 25 years of service and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Elks, the Lions, and the Scottish Highlands Men’s Club. He is survived by his son, Michael (Beth Winters) Cosgrove of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter, LCDR/Navy/RET Janet (Bradley Palmer) Davis of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Patricia Willmott of Toms River, NJ, Bernice Lawson of Randolph, NJ; and his loving companion, Kathryn Dee of Leesburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dian E. Cosgrove; and a brother, Lester Cosgrove, Jr. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 11:00AM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares.
