When Ken and I retired we traveled in our RV and spent months each year for the past 9 years in Florida. We got to visit Rudy and Linda alot, LInda cooked us many good meals! We always looked forward to our Florida trips! We were able to spend many Christmas and Thanksgiving with them in the past 9 years. I think Rudy looked forward to us coming and probably leaving..LOL! He was always so good to us, made us feel at home. He always made sure I loaded the dishwasher the right way, he would come in and check, after awhile he trusted me to do it wihtout supervison...:) Rudy and Ken did alot of things around the house. He liked to be right there when Ken would be working, he would get the tools arll set out in order and ready before we got there to make it easy on Ken.
We have missed our trips in the last 2 years. Thank you for all the fun times and treating us so well. Love you Rudy, you will be so missed. Renee
So many childhood memories living in Ridgecrest, San Diego & Turlock. The old man was in the Navy so we moved alot. Fun times swimming on the base and the beach while Dad socialized with his buddies. Later in years we reconnected and spent alot of time in Florida with Dad and Linda. Dad took us out on a pontoon boat through the Dora Canal. After our retirement we were fortunate to have the opportunity to spend months at a time to be near Dad and LInda. We had discussions on all the topics, we worked on projects around the house and the yard. Miss you and love you old man... Kenny
I remember moving to Florida when I was 15 to live with my mom and her husband Rudy. I was so nervous as I hadn’t seen my Mom in years and didn’t know Rudy at all. It wasn’t long after getting off the plane in Miami that I felt more at ease. I’m pretty sure it was the trip to Godfathers pizza where I remember so vividly eating a combination pan pizza and just talking to Rudy and my Mom. I stayed with them over a year and remember Rudy being very good to me. He often let me wear his boating shirts to school and never got upset if I messed one up. On occasion he would sneak me a beer and tell me not to tell my mom. I felt like he was a friend and I will miss him as I have so many memories of just being on the water in the sailboat with him and my mom. I often wonder how different my life would be had I stayed in Florida instead of coming back to California. I’m confident in saying it would have turned out much better because I would have had 2 parents to guide me and that is one regret I will always have. I know Rudy loved my Mom so very much and her him too. Thank you for everything my friend, you will certainly be in my heart and I only wish you knew how much you really meant to me when I was a kid.
