Roy F. Carter's Obituary
Roy F. Carter, age 86, of Tavares passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. He was born October 13, 1930 in Chattanooga, TN to William Roy Carter and Musette Watson Carter. He received his Master’s Degree from FSU. He moved to Lake County in 1984 from Belle Glade, FL. He was a beloved band director and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of Phi Beta Mu, FL Bandmasters Assoc., and the Elks Lodge. He loved music and traveling and was also a Ham Radio Operator. He is survived by his son, Roy F. Carter, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Carter; daughter, Lisa Peak and her husband, Mike Peak; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Shaw Carter. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778.
