GOD BLESS
Aunt Mary was respected and loved by everyone who knew her. She was always pleasant, kind and smiling. She and Uncle Pete were extraordinary hosts and loved Sunday family dinners and holidays celebrated traditionally....especially Christmas Eve and midnight mass with fish dinners that just kept growing larger and larger, both the quantities/types of fish served, the number of guests, and the preparation time.
She and my mom married brothers and neither had any experience cooking meals for a large family. They were given $1.00 per day to feed 7 adults and 2 children. They learned well and became accomplished cooks along with Aunt Josie.
I remember them baking zillions of delicious cookies at Christmas and for weddings and not touching them until the event. They hosted wedding and baby showers with set menus of roast beef sandwiches, potato salad, jello molds, and of course, homemade cookies for her children, her nieces and nephews, and friends, along with generous cash gifts (thank you).
Aunt Mary did my hair for my wedding (thank you), helped Uncle Pete get a ball & chain on Ken's leg before our first dance (thank you), and helped to clean/rehab our first home (thank you), and they hired Ken to work part time at their gas station when I became pregnant (thank you).
She will be missed, always loved, and certainly remembered in our families' hearts. Simply a good person and a life well lived!
Thank you and uncle Pete for all you did for me in the past, see you soon!
I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Mary every day I went to work. I looked forward to seeing her smiling face every day. She was a kind soul and will be missed. May she Rest In Peace. My thoughts and prayers go to Karen (who is just as amazing) and the rest of the family.
