Maitland C. "Mait" Brasher Jr.'s Obituary
Maitland C. “Mait” Brasher Jr. 69, of Astatula, passed away on May 17, in his home with loved ones and Pastor with him. He had fought cancer for four years with chemotherapy and radiation, he never complained or asked “why me Lord”. Mait has been described as being the most positive male role model in some lives. He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi and moved here in 1971. The family thanks the Hospice Blue Team for making this ordeal bearable for wife and family. Mait was a Christian telling his family, “I’ll be leaving soon, you can come and be with me in Heaven. I’ll be at Jesus’ feet. He was associated with the Church of God of Prophecy of Tavares.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, they were married for 50 years, other survivors include his children; Rod (Barbara) Brasher, Steve (Patty) Brasher and Melinda (Gene) Adkins all of Astatula, grandchildren; Heather (Dave) Walpen, Seth Brasher, Garrett Brasher, Josh Brasher, Kenedee Brasher and Brittney Harmon, his great grandchildren; Sebastian Walpen, Landon Harmon, Luke Harmon and Lily Harmon, his adopted children; Glyn Dyal and Brian White.
Flowers are welcome or the family requests memorials to The Church of God of Prophecy, 112 S. Lake Avenue, Tavares, FL 32778
Funeral services will be held in the Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 20th with Pastor Samuel E. Gamble officiating, interment will follow in Astatula Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2PM.
