Louis N. "Lou" Glaros' Obituary
Mr. Louis N. Glaros of Tavares, Florida passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania to Nicholas and Angelina (Moraitis) Glaros. Lou served his country in the US Navy in WWII in the European Theatre. He was a signalman on the USS Gleaves. Lou was a retired painting and sheeting contractor. He moved to Florida in 1974 from Munster, Indiana. He met his wife, Joy, and they married in 1977. Lou was a family man and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was also an excellent cook. Lou was a member of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in MountDora. He served on the Vestry and Eucharistic Ministry at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Maitland. Lou is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Joy; sons, Willis (Marcia) Glaros of St. John, Indiana, Lou (Carol) Glaros of Ocoee, Florida and Rusty Paul R. (Kim) Jones of Suwanee, Georgia; daughters, Liz (Pat) Story of Middleport, Ohio, Leanne (Greg) Fleischer of Apopka, FL and Denise (James) Frederick of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Anne Psilos of Boca Raton, Florida; grandchildren, Melissa Glaros Lyttle of Orlando, Florida, Megan (Lance) Bruggeman of St. John, Indiana, Matt (Kelly) Glaros of Munster, Indiana, Ian (Christina) Story of Charlotte, North Carolina, Emily Story of Columbus, Ohio, Drew Clark, Hunter Frederick and Madison Frederick, all of Tallahassee, Florida, Connor Jones, Corey Jones and Colton Jones, all of Suwanee, Georgia; as well as 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 1976 by his first wife, Kiki, after 28 years of marriage.The family invited friends to call for viewing on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A funeral ceremony was held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Mount Dora. Burial followed at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL.
