Kent E. Winslow's Obituary
Mr. Kent E. Winslow, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Kent served his country in the US Air Force in Vietnam, where he met his wife, Maryann. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He moved to this area from Wichita, Kansas in 1983. He was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Eustis and the VFW. After his military career, Kent furthered his education and worked as a school teacher in LakeCounty. He had an incredible quest for knowledge and the desire to improve himself. He loved to read, draw and cook with his grandchildren. Kent also worked for Kmart for over 25 years. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is remembered by his wife of 44 years, Maryann (Thuy) Winslow; sons, James (Tami) Winslow of Apopka, FL, Bert (Marilyn) Winslow of Yorktown, VA, John (Sarah) Winslow of Boca Raton, FL and Robert (Cindy) Winslow of Naples, FL; daughters, Elsbeth (Wes) Shipes of Umatilla, FL and Marcia Winslow of Naples; sister, Elsbeth (James) Woodward of Mount Dora; and 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Mandi, Jordan, Taylor, Sadie, Riley, Christopher, Aubrie, D’Artagnan, Ayla and Leonidas. Friends gathered for viewing on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 10 am until 12 noon at the funeral home. A funeral ceremony followed at 1:00 pm at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Eustis with burial following at LakesideMemoryGardens in Eustis.
