Joseph R. “Joey” Evans, Jr. of Tavares, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the age of 49 years. He was born in Avon Park, Florida and grew up in Pine Hills. He moved to Tavares 4 years ago. Joey served his country for 2 years in the US Marine Corp. He was an iron worker and recently worked as a glazier. He enjoyed watching TV and movies, especially NASCAR. He is remembered by his mother, Charlotte S. Evans of Tavares; son, Darren Evans of Virginia; daughters, Falisha Mendez of Pensacola, Florida, Marinda Mendez of Jacksonville, Florida and Mariah Mendez of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Glenn L. (Dorothy) Barks of Kentucky; sisters, Glenda F. (Thomas) Barks-Mauldin of Georgia and Anna (Robert) Kornhaus of Minneola, FL; as well as 1 grandson, Jacob. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Evans, Sr. A Memorial Ceremony was held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
