John Edmund von Hartmann Jr.'s Obituary
In Loving Memory
John Edmund von Hartmann Jr.
June 30, 1965 – August 30, 2025
John Edmund von Hartmann, 60, of Tavares, Florida, passed away on August 30, 2025. Born June 30, 1965, in Castro Valley, California, he lived a life marked by faith, family, and service.
John’s faith was a steady presence throughout his life. He often turned to the Bible for reflection, finding comfort in its words. His quiet devotion shaped the thoughtful way he approached the world.
John served honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). He honored and respected every Veteran he ever met, reflecting his lifelong gratitude for service.
He found freedom on two wheels, often saying he “loved life behind bars” and referring to it as “wind therapy.” Riding motorcycles from before he could walk, he continued that passion throughout his life.
John spent much of his life in Lake County, where he knew every back road and all the best places to explore. Nicknamed “Recon,” he loved taking friends and family out for some wind therapy, sharing the freedom of the open road.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Edmund von Hartmann Sr., a naval Veteran, and by his beloved wife of 32 years, Patricia L. von Hartmann. Their memory remained a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout his life.
He is survived by his mother, Brenda; his son, Seth; his stepchildren, Jennifer, Brian, and Matthew; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his loving wife of five years, Michelle L. von Hartmann, and her three children.
His legacy will live on in their hearts.
