James Garfield Tillis II's Obituary
James Garfield "Jay Bird" Tillis II was unexpectedly called home Friday December 26th, 2025. Born in Hillsborough County, Fl on October 7th, 1971, Jay was a devoted father & family man who was looking forward to being a first time grandfather to Levi Tillis. He was a steadfast Christian, a proud Navy Veteran and an accomplished health care professional & administrator. He also had a passion for cooking, hunting, fishing and collecting firearms. He was a member of the Fernandina Beach Military Club & Yulee Moose Club. And the kind of man that made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jay is survived by his sons Tyler & Joshua Tillis, fiance Nicole Wright as well as a multitude of relatives & close friends.
Family & friends will gather on Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at Astatula Baptist Church to celebrate his life beginning with viewing for family at 10AM, for public at 10:30AM and service at 11AM. A graveside service at Astatula Cemetery will follow.
Casual dress is requested for attendees in keeping with Jay’s lifestyle.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Jay is at peace in the presence of our Lord.
