Frances Theresa Tomlinson's Obituary
Frances Theresa Tomlinson, 79, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and beloved friend, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Frances was born on the island of St. Catherine, Jamaica, on November 5, 1941, to Rudolph and Evelyn Finch. Frances then relocated to the United States and settled in New Jersey. She worked as an executive secretary at various companies, until she then acquired a job with the United States Postal Service. She worked there tirelessly providing for her family as a Postal Clerk for 23 years and retired in July 2007. After retirement, Frances relocated to Sorrento, Florida from New Jersey.
Frances was a devoted mother and friend. She was loved by many - "to know her was to truly love her". She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and loved to serve. She sang in the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora choir and fellowshipping with others brought her great joy. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 91: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty".
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Rudolph and Evelyn Finch, sisters, Elsada Simms, Maud Duahney, Emily Maxom and brother Elijah Bennett. She is survived by her four loving children: Andrew Chong, Sandra Chong, Natalie Chong and Alethia Chong-Dixon and her husband Abram B. Dixon. Brother Rudolph (Willie) Finch, sisters: Rebekah Thompson and Isabel Cooper. Six grandchildren: Dain Saint, Shannon Chong, Warren Chong, Araya Dixon, Ariel Dixon, and Amaya Dixon. Niece Yvonne Thomas as well as a host of others.
Frances Tomlinson has gone from labor to reward. Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday, August 27th with a gathering of family and friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora, Florida, 1000 E. 1st Avenue, Mount Dora, Florida 32757. Her Going Home Celebration Service will begin at 3:00 PM at First Baptist of Mount Dora with Dr. Thomas Jamieson officiating.
