My brother and I were patients of Dr. Pete from 78-92 ish. He was big, had that big leather thing on his wrist, and a stethoscope. Once he started talking, things started to settle down - he had such a kind presence about him. The only man who ever got our ears to talk to him. He was such a cool guy and a great doctor - we looked forward to going to see Dr. Pete. A buddy of mine and I actually cold called him about 10 years ago and we spoke for a few minutes. I hope that he realized two grown men, who thought the world of him many years before, just wanted to say hi and we were thinking of him. I felt like a kid again talking to Dr. Pete. I just heard the news but Ill life his family up this evening. Dr. Pete, thank you for taking care of me, my brother, and my dad. And also, my little ears thank you as well.
Dr. Pete and Mrs. Nancy were always so nice whenever I met them. They were always gracious whenever I got to see them. My prayers and thoughts are with Loc and the rest of the Robertsons during their time of grief.
The Passing This Past Week Of Dr. (Pete) Robertson Has Really Brought Things Into Prospective For Me.
He Was Our Pediatrician For About 30 Years Three Three Children Starting In 1966. About 1994 He Told My Yougest Daughter Age 20 Then, She Would Need To Find Another Doctor.
I Have So Many Fond Memories Of Him With My Three Girls Whom I Struggled To Raise By Myself For The Most Part.
He Diagnosed My Daughter Jennifer With A Heart Condition Which Led Us To Go To Orlando To A Cardiologist. I Always Went To The BIG CITY For Anything Out Of The Ordinary.
She Had Open Heart Surgery At The Age Of 13. She Recovered And Went On To Marry And Have Two Children. Sadly, She Passed Away From A Brain Bleed At The Age Of 36.
He Diagnosed Daughter # 3, Angela, With Mono When She Was In The 10th Grade And She Had To Attend School For Half Days With Bed Rest. That Was Tough.
I Use To Almost Break Out In Hives If I Knew His Office Would Be Closed For Vacation. It Scared Me To Death.
Twice I Had To Go To Another Doctor When One Of My Children, Daughter #1, Got The Flu. It Was So Bad She Had To Be Hospitalized For 5 Days. Dr, Pete Was Out Of Town. We Struggled To Get Her Admitted.
Another Time, Daughter #3 Had A Very Bad Sore Throat, Pus Pockets On The Back Of Her Throat, We Had To Go To Another Doctor.
Keep In Mind, This Was Way Before Emergency Care Facilities.
It Was So Scary, But We Always Went Back To Dr. Pete.
I Remember When My Oldest Daughter Was Able To Drive And The Other Two Girls Would Get Get Sick. I Scheduled The Appointment And She Drove Them Up There. You Always Got In The Same Day You Called. That Way, As A Single Parent I Didn't Have To Take Time Off Of Work. My Mother Also Took Them Up There. She Knew Dr. Pete's Mother And They Got Along Well.
Like I Mentioned In My Previous Post, I Always Had A Balance At That Office Until I Received My Income Tax Return, Then I Paid It Off. Every Year, Was The Same.
They Never Asked Me For Money Or Refused To See My Girls Because I Owed Money. If The Girls Were Sick, They Were Seen The Day I Called.
I Had One Daughter That Was Prone To Bronchial Pneumonia. You Could Set Your Watch By It For Several Years. Every 6 Months She Would Be Down With It.
Another Daughter Always Had Strep Throat Or Pus Pockets In The Back Of Their Throat And Sinus Infections.
I Think He Always Knew, As A Single PArent, I Was Doing The Best I Could.
He Surely Has Earned His Place In Heaven With The Angels And Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I Represent Just One Family With My Stories, Out Of Thousands He Has Treated.
WHAT A GEM WE HAVE LOST.
