Deborah P. Luebbers' Obituary
Deborah P. Luebbers, age 77, of Tavares passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Malden, MA on May 19, 1936. She attended Malden High School, and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono, ME. She worked many years as a dental assistant and dental office manager. She was married to her loving husband, John T. Luebbers, Jr. for over 56 years. Deborah and John lived in Malden, Burlington and Chelmsford, MA; Londonderry and Pembroke, NH; and Searsport, ME before retiring to Tavares in 2004. After bringing up her family and retiring from her dental career, Deborah and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country in various recreational vehicles as well as ocean sailing. Deborah was the secretary of the Mid Coast Sail and Power Squadron in ME for several years while she lived in Searsport, ME. She had qualified for the grade of Advanced Pilot. She also earned an Amateur Radio License with the call sign KB1FEF. While attending the University of Maine, Deborah was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After retiring and living in Tavares and living in the Royal Harbor retirement community, Deborah was active in the Royal Harbor Women’s Club, Royal Harbor Line Dancers, and the Red Hats. During summers she and her husband would return to Maine in their RV and enjoy camping along the way on the trip up and back. She is survived by her husband, John, who his friends know as Ted; daughter, Gretchen L. Dixson and her husband, Mark Dixson; son, Brian T. Luebbers; 7 grandchildren, Soibhan Kerley and her husband David, John Corey Luebbers, Calvin Luebbers, Gregory Dixson, Kevin Dixson, Erik Luebbers, and Alex Luebbers; 2 great-grandchildren, Grace Kerley and Gabriel Kerley. She was preceded in death by a son, John A. Luebbers in 2003. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 1:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish funeral Home, Tavares. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778 or to Cure PSP, Foundation for PSP/CBD and related brain diseases, 30 E.
