David Alan Derby's Obituary
David Alan Derby, age 81, of Tavares, Florida was sent to his eternal home on Friday, December 19, 2025 due to a long battle with heart disease. David was predeceased by his beloved parents Willett and Phyllis Derby of Salisbury, Maryland. David had one brother Willett Jr. (Bill) who passed away in 1988. Bill’s wife Elaine Derby passed in 2022. His nephews Bruce & Glenn Derby reside in Florida. David graduated from Wicomico High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1962. After training he was stationed in West Berlin, Germany. He also served in the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran and honorably discharged in 1972. He spent over 20 years as a respected Financial Planner. He was dedicated to his position of Sr. Relationship Manager at PSA Finance in Hunt Valley, Maryland. On Saturday mornings he hosted a radio show focusing on planning and wealth management options. He received many awards and recognitions for his outstanding performance in helping his clients. His love for boating was a source of happiness and joy. He spent many weekends aboard the “Liquid Assets" on the Chesapeake Bay. He and his wife Betty were members of The Maryland Yacht Club located in Pasadena, Maryland before retiring to Florida. His wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Derby passed away in 2019. Another passion he had was his motorcycle. He had many friends in both Maryland and Florida that shared his love for the open road. David will be lovingly remembered by his companion Carol Hanna who touched his life with her unwavering kindness and love. He will be greatly missed by his friends in the retirement community of Lake Francis Estates. David leaves behind his only child Daniela Fuller (Tim) and grandchildren Sara & Ben of Chapin, South Carolina. Also, his niece Samantha Draper (Todd) and their children Will & Susan of Houston, Texas. He has many cousins, nieces and one nephew. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to any charity of your choice. As per David’s request no funeral or memorial service will be held
