Daniel Wesley Lucas' Obituary
Daniel Wesley Lucas, 86, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Florida Hospital Waterman. Born in Enigma, Georgia, November 1, 1930 to Luther Wesley and Alda McMurphy, he moved to Lake County in 1939 where he spent most of his life. He was a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and Korean Service Medal with 5 bronze stars. He worked for Florida Department of Transportation for 38 years as a Road Supervisor at District 5, retiring in 1992. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising cattle, working in the yard, fishing and watching TV. Daniel loved his family. He was extremely proud of his only daughter, Lisa Wilson of Tavares and her husband, John. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Jordan, of Leesburg; sister Patricia Shepard, of Minneola, and brother Paul Lucas, of Clermont and his wife Dorothy, 2 granddaughters, Katelyn Rodriguez and Krista Wilson and two great-grandsons, Aiden Tinkey and Jayden Rodriguez, as well as many, many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November, 6, 2016 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tavares Cemetery.
