Christina T. McGinty's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Christina T. McGinty Christine “Chris” McGinty, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and GREAT grandmother, passed away on February 15, 2024 after a brief struggle with dementia . Born on May 30, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, she was 92 years old. Chris was the person of exceptional generosity, kindness, humor, and stories in every subject you can imagine. She was a successful housewife and mother and worked in the communications industry, and then in the human resource department at Suffolk County Municipal Offices on Long Island, New York. She was also an active member and started SEPTA (Special Education PTA) In Sayville, New York, where her children attended school. In addition, she has been in line dancing club at Royal Harbor, women’s club, veterans memorial committee, and many other types of community charities. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Bob; their children, John, Terese, and Sean and their spouses; her six cherished grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minna and Julius Jensen, and her two brothers Lou and Charley Jensen. Chris was an avid collector of many different types of collectibles but her main passion was dolls. She spent most of her life collecting Barbie dolls, and Cabbage Patch dolls and in the town of Sayville where she spent over 30 years, she was known as the “Cabbage Patch Lady”. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at STEVERSON, HAMLIN & HILBISH Funeral Home in Tavares,/Florida on February 26, from 10:00 - 11:00 with a burial service at 12:00 noon at Bushnell National Cemetery. Chris’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her joy for life, strong faith, love for dolls, and forever unending stories will continue to inspire us for years to come. She will be greatly missed by all.
