Charles Benjamin Patrick's Obituary
Charles Benjamin Patrick "Capt. Charlie", age 84, of Mt. Dora, passed away on May 10, 2009. He was born in Glen Cove, NY. He was the former owner of "Capt. Charlie's" Dora Canal Cruises from 1984 to 2003. In his last years he worked at Wal-Mart of Mt. Dora from 2003 to 2009. Everyone he came in contact with knew him as "Capt. Charlie". He was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard serving during WWII on the USS Cepheus (AKA-18) from 1943 - 1946, which aided in the Invasion of Normandy during WWII. He is survived by his sons, Charles Jr. of St. Petersburg, William A. of New Port Richey, Leonard of Miramar; brother, Alexander (Roberta) Patrick of Cocoa; cousin, Edna Shotwell of Glen Cove, NY; grandchildren, Kristin Patrick of San Francisco, CA, Christina Patrick, Port Richey, Kevin Patrick of Miramar. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home.
