Anthony C. Stoeveken's Obituary
Anthony C. Stoeveken, age 72, of Mt. Dora, FL passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 with his wife and children at his side after a long, slow decline due to Alzheimer’s disease. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree from UWM in 1960 he enlisted in the Marine Corps. In 1964 he returned to earn his Master’s Degree and in 1966 was awarded a Ford Foundation grant to study fine art lithography at the Tamarind Institute, Los Angeles, where he became one of the first Master Printers. In 1968 he went to work for Graphicstudio Collaboration as Education at the University of South Florida as the first printer. In 1970 he returned to UWM to teach until his retirement as Professor Emeritus. His passions were making art, gardening and reading nonfiction. Christel and Tony moved to Florida 2 years ago to be near to their children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and partner of 44 years, Christel; daughter, Jennifer (Dean) Trail; grandchildren, Tyler and Alexa Carlson; son, Joshua (Adria) Stoeveken; sisters, Kathleen (Daniel) Omelina and Mary Jane (Patrick) Brosseau; brothers, Terrence Stoeveken and Peter (Monika) Stoeveken; many cousins, nephews and nieces; sister-in-law, Ingrid Finnan and niece Mollie. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:00AM at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares, FL. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778.
