Alice Irene Whittaker's Obituary
Alice Irene Whittaker of Tavares, Florida passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the age of 84 years. She was born in Colonie, New York. Alice retired from the New York State Taxation & Finance Department. Alice was a member of the Woodlawn Reformed Church in Schenectady, NY. She and her husband, Robert, moved to central Florida in the late 1980’s from Schenectady. Alice had a passion for ballroom dancing. She loved to play cards with her family. In her early years she enjoyed roller skating and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert C. Whittaker, her sister, Maybelle Buhrmaster and her brother, Howard Coton. Alice is remembered and will be dearly missed by her loving companion, Darrell Davenport of Tavares, FL; sons, David Wade (Romeo Cruz) Whittaker of Tavares and Robert Frank Whittaker and his life partner, Martha Kash of Eustis, FL; sister, Hazel (Donald) Krauss of Albany, NY; brother, James A. Coton of Scotia, NY; sister-in-law, Marion Coton of Ballston Spa, NY and many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, February 16 from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a memorial ceremony starting at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a charity of your choice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
