Mr. Juan Francisco Phi Ortiz
July 24, 1964 - January 7, 2020
Juan Francisco Phi Ortiz was born in Lajas, Puerto Rico on Friday, July 24, 1964. He grew up with many loving siblings and a wonderful mother to help him develop into the man we all love. During school, he loved sports such as track and field. Throughout School the girls considered him a ladies man, always knowing what to say. There are so many wonderful stories from when he was a child that we are still hearing new stories all the time of his crazy Adventures of little Juanito. He loves the family very much and his brothers, sisters were his best friends. In 1983 Juan left Puerto Rico to continue his adventures in New York. There, he developed his English and always made sure he was surrounded by happy people. Around 1987 he moved to Miami. There he met a beautiful woman named Shirley. Soon after, they were both blessed with a new Phi to join the family in 1989. Juan was very proud of his son and was always there for him, no matter the circumstances, to make sure there was love, food and a comfortable place to grow up. He was a funny brother and a wonderful father. Juan loved to cook and didn't need much of an excuse to throw a party. He really enjoyed the times when the family would get together at his brother's house to play games, eat and dance like there's no tomorrow. There was so much love for his family both in Puerto Rico and in Florida. Some know Juan as Frank. He always made sure that the people closest to him were happy. Even though he is gone from us, he will forever live in our memories reminding us to always love our family and to look out for each other. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, 226 E. Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida 32778. A memorial service to celebrate Juan's life will follow immediately following the gathering at 7:00 PM .
