William "Bill" L. Burke's Obituary
William L. Burke “Bill”, age 74, of Tavares, passed away on October 12, 2010. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Tavares in 1993. Bill graduated from Dobbins Vocational Technical School in 1954 and did his apprenticeship with Type Krafters Composition Co., and then became a journeyman at North American Composition Co. He had worked at Allen, Lane & Scott in PA; he relocated to Maryland in 1963 and continued his career with the Government Printing Office; Department of Commerce in 1976 as a Printing Specialist; Department of Treasury in 1978 as a full color expert and retired from there in 1993. Bill moved to Tavares in 1993 with his wife Kitty and she passed away in 1994. He married Shirley Vogus in 2001 and she passed away in 2007. He is survived by his special companion, Susan Beall of Tavares; children, Michael Burke of Waldorf, MD, Barbara Burke of Waverly, GA, Judi (Peter) Burke Leap of Jackson, NJ, Steven Burke and Robert (Tina) Burke all of District Heights, MD; brother, John (Laura) Burke of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; lifelong friend, Gus Gushion and special friends, George VanTassal and Bob and Alma Silverstein. Friends and family gathered from 4-6 on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home. A Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Lake Square Presbyterian Church of Leesburg with Rev. Dr. Stephen Hulsey officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis.
