William R. McRoberts' Obituary
Mr. William R. McRoberts, of Grand Island, FL, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the age of 78 years. Bill was born in Trenton, NJ. He and his wife, Bobbie moved to this area in 1996 from Pinellas Park, FL, where they lived for 31 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bill was Executive Director of AMVETS, Department of Florida and was a member of the AMVETS Post 1992, Mount Dora. Previously, he was President of Interiors by Robin in St. Petersburg. Bill is remembered by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie; son, William R. McRoberts, Jr. of Hernando, FL; daughter, Robin (James) Cantwell of Eustis; brother, Fred McRoberts of Pinellas Park; sisters, Ruth Friend of Trenton, NJ and Eleanor Kovacs of Robbinsville, NJ; grandchildren, Breanne (Ron) Davis, Lynsie Cantwell, Ian McRoberts, Adam Cantwell, Mandis McRoberts and Tara McRoberts as well as 1 great grandchild, Rylee Davis. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. McRoberts, a brother, Robert McRoberts and a grandson, Shane McRoberts. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the AMVETS Dept. of FL, Junior AMVETS, 6213 Travis Blvd., Tampa, FL 33610. Friends were invited to gather for viewing on Monday, April 26, 2010 from 10 – 11 am with services starting at 11 am, all at the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora, 222 W. 6th Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757. Burial followed at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson-Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares, 352-343-4444.
