Virginia "Ginny" Mae McConnell's Obituary
Virginia Mae “Ginny” Lamley McConnell, 100, of Tavares, Florida, died Friday, November 13, 2015. For the past ten years, she has been a resident of Edgewater at Waterman Village in Mount Dora, Fl.
Born October 7, 1915, in Auburn, Indiana, to Alex and Jessie Forsyth Cook, she was a full time resident of Florida for the past 54 years. She and her first husband Al Lamley owned and operated the Wawasee Marina in Syracuse, Indiana for twenty-plus years after their marriage in 1944. They spent winters in Florida, living in Emperial Terrace West in Tavares and were members of the Imperial Terrace Boat Club and the Aqua Knots Boat Club. Ginny was active in the Homeowners Association, bowling, and golf.
Following Al Lamley’s death in 1990, she married John McConnell of Michigan and lived in Emperial West until his death in 2004.
She is survived by her nephews William D. Isenhour, Southfield, MI; Burton Isenhour and Ronald Cook, both of Ft. Wayne, IN; Robert Cook, Ft. Myers Beach, FL; David Cook, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and step-children Marilyn McConnell Tatro, Marysville, MI; Richard McConnell and William McConnell, both of Prudenville, MI.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18 from 3 to 5 pm. Services will be Thursday, November 19 at 10 am at the Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares, Fl. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis, FL.
