Virginia P. Chase's Obituary
Virginia P. Chase of Zellwood, Florida passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Southborough, Massachusetts to James and Irene Patterson. She married Robert M. Chase, who preceded her in death in October 2009 after 58 years of marriage. Together, they moved from Bellingham, Massachusetts to Sarasota, Florida in 1988 and relocated to Zellwood in 2007. Prior to her move to Florida, Virginia’s love of writing lead her to work as a newspaper correspondent in Bellingham. She later worked as the office manager of the Town of Bellingham Water Department. Virginia wrote books about her life growing up as well as a book for each of her children, filled with their childhood memories. She also loved poetry and published a book of poems. Virginia had lots of friends and loved to host a good Saturday evening card game. Her positive attitude towards life and her great sense of humor helped make her the “life of the party”. Virginia will be remembered and dearly missed by her daughters, Deborah A. Burr and her husband, Howie of Bellingham, Cynthia L. Chase of Apopka and Virginia A. Chase of Apopka; sons, Robert L. Chase and his wife, Kathy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and James E. Benoit and his wife, Cheryl of Okeechobee, Florida; grandchildren, Robert L. Chase, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Fiskdale, Massachusetts, Kimberley Chiancola of Worchester, Massachusetts, Crystal Ury of Illinois, Kristie Goyer and her husband, Todd of Blackstone, Massachusetts, Adam Chase-Azzaoui and Sophia Chase-Azzaoui, both of Apopka; as well as 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Robert, Virginia was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cerisa Ury. Friends are invited to gather for viewing on Friday, May 24 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon, with a funeral service starting at 12:00 noon, all in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora, Florida. Arrangements are entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, Florida. Condolences, memories, photos and videos may be shared on the tribute wall.
