I didn't know him the way most reading this did. Got to see and visit with him just a few times, usually at someone's funeral, but took advantage of the time I did get with him. When his sister (My Grandmother) passed I watched him with my Dad, guiding, and just helping Dad get through the "affairs" of laying someone to rest, I know Dad really struggled with it all and I also know that It meant the world to my dad and my Aunt. He came in, rolled up his sleeves and was exact and the point with all of it. You shoulda seen him and Dad, they really sent her off in an amazing way. Decades later me and Dad had the privilege of going out to dinner with just him and Aunt Emma, a meal in which I paid for, and I gotta say it didn't go over tooo good, but in the end was fine, I think he got it.
The truth is, it was the only way I could really thank him for helping send Grama off, and I know exactly what most would say "She was his sister, of course he would help", but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that he really dug deep and helped my Father, when he needed someone the most. Years later when we lost dad, I remembered Dad and Uncle Truman, But especially Uncle Truman, and "I" dug deep and was exact.......and to the point. I sent my Father off properly and did any and all of my Mothers bidding. All learned from this great man we just lost. To Aunt Emma and his kids, I thought THAT much of him. Love and Prayers to all from me and Heidi-Larry
