Thomas Warren Mills' Obituary
Thomas Warren Mills, 96 of Howey-In-The- Hills, FL went to be with The Lord on July 05, 2016. Thomas was born on July 13, 1919 in Sylvania, GA to the late Warren and Mae Mills. Thomas was of the Methodist faith. He was a proud member of the Florida Entomological Society and the Masons of Gainesville, FL. Thomas was also a proud United States Army veteran where he served in the 32nd infantry division in the South West Pacific Theatre of World War II. After being honorably discharged from the army in October of 1945 he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in entomology from The University of Florida as well as a Masters Degree of Science from Nova University. During Thomas’ working life he had many different jobs and careers such as a salesman for Swift Company of Chicago, in Miami, FL, a Tech consultant for Orkin, a State Farm insurance agent, a nursery owner in Palm Beach, FL, teacher of business and nursery operations at Lake Tech College and lastly, a commercial fisherman. He and his wife Thelma moved to Lake County, FL in June of 1969 from Boynton Beach, FL. Thomas enjoyed saltwater fishing, gardening, boxing and participated in the Golden Gloves. Those who knew Thomas would describe him as a boisterous man who was colorful, humorous, and very knowledgeable. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by many. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years: Thelma Mills. He is survived by his son: Robert (Wendy) Mills, of Howey-In-The-Hills, FL; Daughters: June (Bill) Wardlaw, of New Boston, TX, and Summer Zephyr, of Panama City, FL; 9 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Service for Mr. Thomas Warren Mills will be held on Saturday July 09, 2016 at 11:00AM at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home with Dr. Alan Holden officiating. Interment will follow at Tavares Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
