Theresa Wawrzycki Harcleroad's Obituary
Theresa Wawrzycki Harcleroad, a woman celebrated as a source of light and laughter for her family and friends, passed away August 24, 2025. Born on March 2, 1940, Theresa’s life was a journey marked by her dedication to family and a career spent supporting others.
After growing up in Perry, New York, Theresa moved to Hudson, where she began working with and mentoring young women at the Brookwood Secure Center for Youth. Her passion for helping children led her to education, where she eventually moved into administration and finished her impactful career. In 1991, she moved to Umatilla, Florida with her family.
Theresa was the cherished wife of her late husband, Gerald Harcleroad. She was a loving mother to Kathy (Edward), Terry Mark (Rebecca), and Chuck. She was also the adoring grandmother of Sophie, who brought her immense joy. Theresa is survived by her four loving sisters, Alicia, Betty, Lori, and Toni, and leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Those who knew Theresa will remember her for her sharp wit and sass, but always having a heart of gold. Her ability to make people laugh and her profound kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A celebration of life with family and close friends will occur at a later date in Western New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund.
