Sue Taylor Miller's Obituary
Sue Miller, 84, died peacefully on September 5, 2016 after a short hospital and hospice stay. For many years she battled pulmonary fibrosis, but remained very active until her final days. Sue was a Registered Dietician and served as a clinical dietician for decades. Her email tagline was Nutrition is a cornerstone of good health. HEALTH IS WEALTH. Sue was born March 29, 1932, in Arthur, IL to Bessie “Becky” L. and Wilbur C. Taylor. She was raised by her mother and grandparents on a farm in Central Illinois where she very much enjoyed riding horses.
In 1956 Sue moved to Champaign, IL, with her 2 young sons and attended the University of Illinois where she graduated with a BS in Food Services Management. It was at U of I where she met her 2nd husband and upon graduation moved to Danville, IL and then settled in Hoopeston, IL. After 22 years of marriage and 3 beautiful children they divorced in 1979. Shortly after their divorce, she married the love of her life, Harold Miller. He preceded her in death in 2015. They moved from Hoopeston and settled in Tavares, FL more than 2 decades ago.
While living in Tavares, Sue continued working as a dietician having completed her graduate studies at the age of 62 prior to moving from Illinois. In their spare time, Sue and Harold loved their canal home and spending time boating on the Chain of Lakes. She was also very active in her community and specifically within her First United Methodist Church of Tavares and as a part of the Lake Gem Red Hat Society. Sue was a proud Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) having been admitted on October 12, 1996 by virtue of her descent from patriot, Abraham Moore of Virginia who enlisted in Captain Washington’s Company of Minute Men in 1775 and who crossed the Delaware with Washington in 1776.
Sue was an only child. She is survived by her 5 children; Charles of Honolulu, HI; Lynn (Jen) of Atlanta, GA; Mark (Chris) of Denver, CO; Liz of Clearwater, FL; and John of Bushnell, FL. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Kirsten, Josh, Taylor, Tucker, Nung, Sarah and Jack. She was preceded in death by her son in law, Terry, and grandson, Robert.
