Stanley E. Smith's Obituary
Stanley E. Smith, age 92, of Orlando, Florida finished his journey here and graduated to his heavenly reward on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Stan grew up in Western Pennsylvania and graduated from Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh after serving his country as a Navy pilot. He worked as an electrical engineer for West Penn Power Company till his retirement in 1986. He has always been an active member of his church – Greensburg Alliance in PA and Stuart Alliance in FL. Stan married the love of his life, Alverta (Putty) Miller in 1949. They were married for 61 years until her death in 2010. Stan and Putty are survived by three children, Kathy (Allen) Pierson of Orlando, FL, Philip (Kim) Smith of New Bethlehem, PA, Lisa (Steven) Stine of Charleston, SC; 6 grandchildren, Matt, Ben, and Katie Pierson and Melanie, Brittany and Lee Ropp. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Lois Brandenstein and Eileen Hanson. A brother, Richard, and an infant sister preceded him in death. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Henry Chapel at First Baptist Orlando. A family visitation will be held at a later date at Mt. Odin Park (back pavilion), Greensburg, PA. A Graveside Service will be held at the North Freedom Cemetery in North Freedom, PA.
