Samuel Davis' Obituary
Samuel Davis (Sam), age 90, of Tavares passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born February 18, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Tavares in 1991 from Marathon, FL. He was married to Evelyn Davis. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 6th, 2014. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired auto repair and gas station owner and during 2o years of his retirement he and his wife Evelyn visited all 50 states, most in their RV. Sam was also an Eagle Scout and Scout Master. He loved the outdoors and shared swimming, skiing, boating, fishing, and scuba diving with his family. He was a member of the Shrine Club of Lake County, Bahia Temple, Scottish Rite, The Q, Moose Lodge of Eustis, Elks Lodge of Apopka, V.F.W., D.A.V., American Legion, and O.E.S. Sam is deeply loved. His love of family and song will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Davis of Tavares, FL; daughters, Sandra Davis (David Sale) of Bainbridge Island, WA and Barbara (Michael) McMonagle of Green Lane, PA; 4 grandchildren (Beverly, Todd, Jennifer, and Kathryn); and 5 great-grandchildren (Samantha, Cassidy, Gracie, Cole and Brooklyn). A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:15PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
