Rose M. Phoenix's Obituary
Rose M. Phoenix, age 88, of Tavares passed away on March 22, 2015. Born into the Carubba family of New Britain, CT, Rose attended New Britain High School where she enjoyed playing basketball, music, and home economics. After graduation, Rose was employed by Fafnir Bearing as a clerk and timekeeper. At Fafnir, Rose met Fernand Phoenix and they married on June 27, 1959. Rose Phoenix became active in the Shriners and Masonic Organizations in the central Connecticut area and served as Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the Sphinx Ladies. Rose enjoyed traveling in service to these groups to cities across the US and Canada. Trips for pleasure and tropical sunshine often saw her in on the island of Aruba or the bright lights and deserts of Nevada, but most often in the second home maintained in West Charleston, Vermont. After retirement, Rose became a snowbird spending winters in Tavares, FL and summers in VT and MA. Rose also enjoyed active participation in the Red Hat Society. In recent years Rose lived full time in Tavares under the loving care of her husband, Fernand Phoenix. Rose also leaves her daughter, Cynthia Carle of Medway, MA and her brother, Anthony Carubba of New Britain, CT. Additionally, Rose leaves nephews, nieces, her son-in-law James Perneski, and many friends now scattered across the paths of her life. Memorial celebrations are planned in CT and FL in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of time or money be given to support medical research into Alzheimer’s Disease.
