In Loving Memory of Ronald Russell Carpenter
Ronald Russell Carpenter, lovingly known as Ron, passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 21, 1940, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Ron lived life on his own terms. With his signature red hair and freckles, he was hardworking, stubborn when he needed to be, fiercely independent, and never one to sit still. If there was work to be done, a fish to catch, or a flower to plant, you could count on finding him there.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a career that reflected his incredible work ethic. In his younger years, he worked as a professional gardener at the Alexander Estates in Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania, where his talent for creating beautiful landscapes first blossomed. He later retired as a machinist from Garrett Hydraulics after many years of dedicated service.
For more than 50 years, Florida was home, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. His yard was his pride and joy, filled with colorful flowers and plants that he lovingly cared for and proudly shared with his neighbors. If you drove by his home, chances are you slowed down just to admire his gardens.
But if there was one thing that truly defined Ron, it was bass fishing. He lived and breathed it. Fishing wasn't just a hobby, it was a way of life, and he passed that passion on to each of his children. Some of life's best lessons were learned in a fishing boat, and the memories made there will be treasured forever.
Ron also had a well-known sweet tooth. He never met a bowl of ice cream he didn't like and was always ready for what he affectionately called his "goodies."
Above all else, Ron was the hardest-working man his family has ever known. He taught by example, showing that dedication, perseverance, and taking pride in your work were values worth living by.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene (Dietrich) Carpenter; his parents, Margaret (Maloney) Carpenter and Russell Carpenter; his stepfather, John Jugan; his stepmother, Mary Carpenter; and his sisters, Arlene Lewis and Debbie Unger.
He leaves behind his children, Stephen (Shelly) Carpenter, Tracy (Jason) Deal, and Scott (Melissa) Carpenter; his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Nicolas, Taylor, Chelsea, and Harper; and his great-grandchildren, Jade, Le'Leeana, and Ethan, all of whom affectionately knew him as "Big Daddy." He is also survived by his brothers, John and Russell; his sister, Mary; his niece, Dawn; his nephews, Danny and Lee J; and his faithful companion and best friend, his Yellow-Naped parrot, Porkchop.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ron's wonderful neighbors and friends at Riverest, whose kindness, friendship, and care meant more to him and our family than words can express.
If heaven has a lake, we're certain Ron has already found the best fishing spot, has a line in the water, and is probably telling everyone else they're doing it wrong. We hope there's an endless supply of ice cream waiting for him when he gets back to shore.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing he is finally at peace. His stories, his determination, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family will remain with us forever.
