Roger W. Conner, Jr.'s Obituary
Roger W. Conner, Jr. of Tavares, FL passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Columbus, OH. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. during World War II in the 3rd Marine Division in the South Pacific. He moved to Tavares in 1950 from Cornelia, GA. Roger was a retired merchant/business owner. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tavares. Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Hazel C. Conner in July of 2013. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his son, Roger W. “Roddy” Conner III and his wife, Shelli of Mount Dora, FL; two grandchildren, Roger W. “Roddy” Conner IV and Blake A. Conner, both of Manhattan, NY and daughter, Linda Sue Hamrick of Nashville, TN. Friends are invited to gather for viewing on Thursday, Aug. 28 from 12:30 – 1:00 pm with a funeral ceremony starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Tavares Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Missions at Journey Christian Church, 1965 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703. Arrangements are entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL. Condolences may be shared on the tribute wall.
