Robert Whitson Zimmerman's Obituary
Robert W. Zimmerman, 69, of Leesburg, Florida passed away very unexpectedly on August 2, 2019. Bob is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Lizann, sons Robbie (Lenora), Michael, bonus daughters Heather (Jared) and Shanda (Adam), granddaughter Macy, sister Doris, brother Howard, and dogs Shelby and Scooter. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone.
Bob was in the construction industry for 40 years. He started as an apprentice carpenter out of high school and worked his way up to general superintendent, where he spent the last 25 years overseeing the construction of everything from schools to high rise condominiums in Florida and the Caribbean. He was an avid fisherman who loved the salty sea and the excitement that came with the next big catch. During baseball season, Bob would follow his favorite Miami Marlins team through good and (mostly) bad. Bob also loved being in his workshop. It brought him great joy to restore old or broken items for his family, sometimes with a piece of fishing line and a bobber.
A service for Bob will take place on Friday, August 9th at the Steverson-Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., 226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, Florida 32778.
