Born to Ludwig and Dorothea Wiecke in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 12th, 1947. Bob pursued a bachelor’s degree in engineering at the Newark College of Engineering (NJIT), where he played starting forward on the school basketball team. Following his graduation in 1969, Bob began a 39-year career as a mechanical engineer with DuPont Fibers Division, helping develop several widely-known products before retiring at the company’s Waynesboro, VA facility in 2008.
A deeply passionate connoisseur of the things he loved, Bob was a devout fan of the New York Yankees and several genres of film, maintaining a vast collection of movies that he generously loaned to neighborhood kids and families. Bob and his wife, Sue, also shared a special affinity for Disney and its theme parks, often inviting friends and family to join them for cruises or all-access trips to Disneyworld.
Bob and Sue moved to Tavares in August 2008, where they resided in the Royal Harbor community. In addition to serving on several local committees, Bob was a highly competitive player at the Lake County Duplicate Bridge Club in Eustis. Bob loved sharing his joy of a diverse array games with friends and family.
