Robert Dale Wehrly - "Bob"'s Obituary
Robert D. Wehrly of Tavares. FL. formerly of Lima, OH, died April 21, 2015 surrounded by family at his home.
Robert was born near Pandora Ohio on January 5th, 1940 to the late Carl and Vera Wehrly.
Robert retired from UPS in 1995 and began spending his winters in Tavares in 1998 and became a full time Floridian in 2012. He loved his family and the land and spent many hours in his garden producing amazing vegetables and his flower beds propagating plants. His passion was bass fishing. As a child, he would walk to the nearest creek to fish. He could spend hours fishing even if he wasn’t catching anything. He participated in many Bass tournaments and won his share of them. Bob played softball in Lima, Bluffton, and Ottawa, OH for many years and also in Florida. He was a good bowler and bowled in the leagues in Lima. He was active in Bass Clubs in Ohio and Florida. He was a member of the Loyal order of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also a life time Ohio State Buckeye fan and a fan of Cleveland Professional sports.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Price Wehrly, son, Scott R (Talia) Wehrly of Tavares, FL, daughter, Bethany Weaver of Cridersville, OH and Stepsons Jeffrey (Cindy) Sharrits, of Carson City, NV and Gregory (Deborah) Sharrits of Painesville, OH, 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his brother, Marlowe Wehrly of Berea, KY. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 26 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A memorial ceremony will start at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cornerstone Hospice, www.cshospice.org
There will be an additional memorial service held in Lima, OH at a later date with interment at Ottawa River Church in Rimer, OH.
