Robert Leo "Van" Van Devanter's Obituary
Robert Leo "Van" Van Devanter of Leesburg, FL passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Saratoga, IN. Robert proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp in World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. After his military service he worked for the US Government as supervisor of carpentry and also held several sales positions in Muncie, IN for Omar Bakery, Riggins Dairy and Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Robert and his wife, Lavada, moved to Leesburg from Columbus, OH in 1985. He was an avid Golfer. Robert is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 ½ years, Lavada; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Brenda Van Devanter of Dayton, OH; step-daughter, Melinda Liter of Wildwood, FL; step-son, Dale Ashby of Madison, OH; sister-in-law, Rose Van Devanter of Long Island, NY; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles in 2002 and his daughter, Pamela Ellen Bingham in 2004. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 2:00 pm at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, FL. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
