Robert L. Burnett, Jr.'s Obituary
Robert L. Burnett, Jr., age 84, of Tavares, FL passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011. He was born April 3, 1927 in Elizabethtown, KY and moved to Lake County 20 years ago from Miami. When he was younger he raced cars and later went on to manufacture racing tires and wheels. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a Mason, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Burnett of Tavares; daughter, Eleanor Jane (Andy W.) Showerman of Fuquay-Varina, NC; step-sons, Larry (Sandy) Wellman of MO, David (Debbe) Wellman of IN, Scott (Laurie) Wellman of IN; step-daughter, Carol Elaine (Frank) Dutkiewicz of IN; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Singleton of Tavares; granddaughter, Tricia Denise Kessler; 10 step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille LaVerne Burnett and his son, Robert Denis Burnett. The family received friends at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00AM at Liberty Baptist Church, Tavares. Interment took place at Vista Memorial Gardens, Miami Lakes, FL. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778.
