Robert Chandler Dill's Obituary
Robert Chandler “Bob” Dill, 74, of Leesburg, FL passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015. Mr. Dill was born December 17, 1940 in Lincoln, Maine to Chandler Everrod and Hilda Arlette (Nute) Dill. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Navy. Robert was a retired accountant for the USPS. He moved to this area in 2001 from Ludlow, Mass. In January, he would have been a 40 year member of Brigham Masonic Lodge in Ludlow. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Springfield, Mass; the Melha Shrine Temple in Springfield and Bahia Shrine Temple in Orlando, FL; the Lake County Shrine Club in Tavares, FL, where he was due to be installed as Commodore of the Mariners and had assisted with fundraising in many ways including Bingo and the monthly Breakfast. Bob had served as treasurer for the Mid Florida Lakes High Twelve Club in Leesburg, FL. He was a member and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, James W. Hannum Chapter #150 in Ludlow, Mass. He was a Past Grand Warder for the State of Mass. Treasurer for the Fairview Sportsman Club and was a member of the Flyers Unit in the Melha Shrine pulling the planes in parades. He also served as a Webelos Leader in Ludlow. While in the Navy, Bob was a Petty Officer guiding the planes back to the flight deck of the USS Oriskany. He lacked only a few hours of flight time to become a pilot when he was injured becoming permanently disabled. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 32 years, Priscilla Alden Nelson Dill; children, Robert C. Dill of Redmond, WA, Lyn White of Howie-In-The-Hills, FL, Diane Conners of Ludlow, MASS, James McAfee of Leesburg, FL and Jil McAfee of Howey-In-The-Hills, FL; siblings, Fay Farrington (Caroline) of Leesburg, FL and Connie Dill Kazan (Bob) of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, David Nelson (Dolores) of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren, Shawn, David and Leanne Conners, Caitlin McAfee, Elizabeth White and Abigail McAfee. Bob’s family will celebrate his life 1:00PM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the Lake County Shrine Club, Tavares, FL.
