Richard H. "Dick" Smyser's Obituary
Richard H. “Dick” Smyser of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Wooster, Ohio. He and his wife, Lois, spend their winters in Tavares, FL from Canton. Dick retired from the Timken Company in Canton after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Canton, the F&AM Masonic Lodge # 710 in Canton, and the Scottish Rite in Canton, as well as the Tadmor Shrine in Akron, Ohio. Dick was in the Naval Reserves in his younger years and was still a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a volunteer fireman in Perry Township for 30 years. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Lois; sons, Richard Smyser and his wife, Annie of Marshallville, OH and Charles Smyser (Shelly) of Canton; daughter, Libby Burcham and her husband, Michael of Geneva, IL; sister, Mary Lou Anderson and her husband, Herb of Naples, FL; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
