Richard Lee Black's Obituary
Mr. Richard Lee Black of Grand Island, FL, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the age of 72 years. He was born in Hammond, IN to Cecil Paul and Ethel (Brasker) Black on July 28, 1939. Richard served his country in the US Navy. In 1993, he retired as a Systems Analyst from Amoco Oil Co. in West Des Moines, Iowa after 25 years of service. He and his wife, Charlene moved to Grand Island from Clive, Iowa in 1993. Richard was a member of the Elks in Eustis and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in Leesburg. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to grill. He is remembered by his wife of 49 years, Charlene; son, Rick Black of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Tami (Jason Roundtree) Black-Roundtree of Grand Island; brother, James (Bertie) Black of Indiana; sisters, Virginia (John) Bell of California and Lucy (Gene) Wilkinson of Illinois; grandchildren, Shayne, Kody and Kyle, all of Grand Island; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Ceremony was held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church of Eustis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Eustis/Tavares, 1650 W. Main Street, Ste 3, Leesburg, FL 34748. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL. Condolences may be left for the family by signing the guestbook below.
