Dear Irwin Family,

Bob worked with Dick for several years in the farm equipment business, and Wally and I were church friends. Dick and I had been keeping in touch by email and he was definitely enjoying his new sunset watching friendship with Carolyn. He sent several pictures of the evening view from her porch. Bob and I were friends with Dick for many years in Belvidere, Illinois. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him in the last couple of months so began a search and was saddened when I found this obituary. God bless his soul, he had a long and fulfilling life, which included his more recent trip to Washington DC. Our sympathy goes out to all of you.

I am so happy that I got to meet your Dad a few years ago, Ann. We had dinner at your home. My mother who passed on a few days before your dad was at the dinner,too. We all enjoyed talking as you know your family was from our neighbor state of Indiana. We lived in a small town on the Ohio River in Kentucky! I loved reading the tribute to your dad and his rich interesting long life. My dad was a WWII vet as well and I know how your dad got to go to D.C. to the WW II Monument in recent years.
